Gisela Praetorius , b. Illing (born January 20, 1902 in Posen ; † February 3, 1981 ) was a German educator and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Gisela Praetorius was born on January 20, 1902 in Poznan as Gisela Illing. After attending the local lyceum and the state university, she first completed a domestic internship in a large farm. In 1920/21 she was the head of the German one-class school in Santomischel . From 1921 to 1924 she attended the technical seminar of the State Trade and Trade School in Potsdam and the trade seminar of the Lette Association in Berlin . She left both institutions with the final exams. At the same time, she continued her education at the Berlin School of Politics. From 1924 to 1929 she worked as a trade teacher at domestic vocational schools and at the trade teacher seminar in Elberfeld . After she married the pastor Will Praetorius in Wuppertal-Barmen in 1929 , she was a housewife in Berlin-Lichterfelde from 1930 to 1940 . Due to the fact that her husband belonged to the resistance movement, the family was expelled from Berlin in 1940.

Political party

Praetorius joined the CDU in Düsseldorf in 1945 .

MPs

Praetorius was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament from 1950 to 1954 and from 1958 to 1962 . She was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1957. She represented the constituency of Mülheim in parliament .
