Hugo Guerra , full name Hugo Romeo Guerra Cabrera , (born March 18, 1966 in Canelones ( Uruguay ), † May 11, 2018 in Arrecifes ( Argentina )) was a Uruguayan football player .

Player career

The 1.86 meter tall "Camello" called offensive player Guerra was at the beginning of his career from 1982 to 1983 with Club Atlético Peñarol , 1984 with Uruguayan second division Colón FC in the Segunda División and 1985 with El Tanque Sisley under contract. He then played from 1986 to 1989 for Nacional Montevideo in the Primera División . The Bolsos gained during this period in 1988, the Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup and the 1989 Copa Interamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana . From 1991 to 1994 he played 96 games for the Argentine club Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata , which he had joined in 1990. He scored 28 hits. In the 1994/95 season he made seven games for the Mexican club Toluca , but did not hit the opposing goal. In Apertura 1995 and Clausura 1996, 37 appearances and 15 goals for Club Atlético Huracán followed . In the Apertura 1996 he played twelve games for the Boca Juniors and scored five times. In Clausura 1997, Apertura 1997 and Clausura 1998 he ran again for the Club Atlético Huracán. The statistics show 43 games and nine goals for Guerra for this period. In Apertura 1998 and Clausura 1999, he made 29 league appearances and six goals at Ferro Carril Oeste . Almirante Brown in the 1999/2000 and 2000/01 seasons, Atlético Tucumán also in the 2000/01 season (20 games, one goal) and Tiro Federal from 2002/03 to the Clausura 2004 were his other career stations. At the end of his career he still played for Juventud de Pergamino and Unión Apeadero de Saladillo in the Torneo Argentino C as well as at Defensores de Salto in the Torneo Argentino. He ended his active career in 2006.

National team

In 1986 Guerra took part with the Uruguayan selection at the 1986 South American Games in Chile . He was also a member of his home country's senior team . From his debut on April 30, 1992 to his last appearance on June 26, 1993, he completed eight international matches in which he scored a total of one goal. At the Copa America 1993 he was part of the Uruguayan squad and was used three times during the tournament.

Coaching career

Guerra worked after his active career at least in 2007 as a coach of the Club Sports Salto .
