Hugo Ritter von Schauer (born April 1, 1862 in Leibnitz , Styria , † April 3, 1920 in Tregist ) was an Austrian lawyer.

Life

Hugo Schauer, son of a doctor, studied law at the University of Graz from 1880 to 1884. After graduating as Dr. jur. In 1885 he joined the judiciary. In 1893 his career began in the Ministry of Justice (1899 Section Council, 1905 Ministerial Council, 1909 Section Head ), where he was mainly involved in private law work. In 1917/18 he held the office of Minister of Justice in the Seidler Ministry.

Schauer worked with Franz Klein to reform the code of civil procedure . Child welfare was a particular concern of his . In 1912 he was ennobled and in 1917 he was appointed privy councilor.
