The Leibniz Center for Computer Science (LZI) at Dagstuhl Castle in Wadern in Saarland was founded in 1989. Until April 2008, the name of the center was: International Meeting and Research Center for Computer Science (IBFI), today it is Schloss Dagstuhl - Leibniz Center for Computer Science . The LZI is a member of the Leibniz Association and is mainly funded by the federal and state governments.
history
Since 1990 , Dagstuhl Castle in Wadern has housed the Leibniz Center for Computer Science (formerly the International Meeting and Research Center for Computer Science (IBFI)). In 1993 the building , which is over 200 years old, was given a modern extension with additional guest rooms, conference rooms and a library. In 2012 another new building with 7 guest rooms was opened. The LZI has been a member of the Leibniz Association since January 1, 2005 .
goals and tasks
The LZI promotes IT by organizing top-class seminars on current IT topics. The seminars are set up after assessment by the scientific directorate and bring together personally invited academic and industrial researchers from all over the world on current IT topics. In addition, the center offers research groups, summer schools, graduate colleges and individuals the opportunity to hold workshops, advanced training events and retreats. Every year around 3500 researchers meet at almost 100 events. The center has an excellent computer science library.

The Leibniz Center for Informatics (LZI), Schloss Dagstuhl, was financed by the federal states of Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate until the end of 2005 and supported by numerous sponsors from industry and publishers. As a member of the Leibniz Association, Schloss Dagstuhl has been financed by the federal and state governments since 2006.
