IC 3993 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBcd in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 882 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies IC 3928 , IC 4018 , IC 4035 , IC 4060 .
The object was discovered by Max Wolf on March 21, 1903 .
