INXS (Internet node)

The Munich INXS ( In ternet e X change S ervice ) was established in 1994 as the first German Internet node (before the DE-CIX ) from the European Computer-Industry Research Center established (ECRC) and since 1999 by the company Cable & Wireless neutral operated. In 2002 the Hamburg INXS was also put into operation.

Numerous well-known carriers take part in the INXS Munich and Hamburg , including a. the German Telekom (M, HH), Arcor (M), BT Germany (M), Level 3 (M) or Colt Technology Services (M, HH).

The INXS switches process over 19.0 Gbit / s at peak times (as of September 2011). For comparison: The DE-CIX in Frankfurt am Main processes almost 2.5 Tbit / s at peak times. (Status: February 2013)

At the end of 2015, the INXS was taken over by the ECIX .
