from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of ISO-3166-2 codes for the United Arab Emirates state contains the codes for the country's seven emirates (imāra).

The codes consist of two parts separated by a hyphen. The first part gives the country code according to ISO 3166-1 (for the United Arab Emirates AE), the second the code for the emirate.

The current country code was last updated in the third newsletter on August 20, 2002 ( PDF ).

The current codes are available on the ISO website under #iso: code: 3166: AE .

In the case of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), these are two letters each. Since 1998, when the geocodes were announced internationally by the ISO, they have remained unchanged in the Romanized versions of the Arabic names with two small exceptions : In Ra's al- Khaimah ( Arabic- Romanized: Ra's al Khaymah) the apostrophe was forgotten and subsequently corrected in the second ISO newsletter of May 21, 2002. In Abu Dhabi (Arab-Romanized: Abu Dhabi) was the third newsletter of August 20 of the same year the Z against Z exchanged.
