Ian Wilson (born April 23, 1939 in London ) is a British cameraman .

biography

Ian Wilson studied graphic design and cinematography at the Nottingham School of Art and the London International Film School . In the 1960s he worked as a cameraman for the United Nations and made recordings for documentaries in Greece . In 1966, he first worked as a cinematographer in the film Private Right of Michael Papas . In the following years he was involved in short films, advertising films and documentaries. In 1976 he photographed the animated film The Butterfly Ball (based on the concept album The Butterfly Ball and the Grashopper's Feast by Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover ) and the science fiction television series Quatermass by Piers Haggard .

In 1982 he received a BAFTA nomination for the miniseries In the Land of the Fir Tree by Roy Ward Baker . In 1986 he began working with British director and screenwriter David Leland . With Leland, he worked on the films Wish You Were Here - Wish You Were Here , tired of life live longer and The Big Man . In the 1990s, Wilson was involved in such films as Edward II , Backbeat , Jane Austen's Emma, and The Crying Game . He received an Emmy Award nomination in 1999 for the version of A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart .
