history

The first Iberg Albert Tower , along with a restaurant, was built in 1886 as a 20 m high wooden tower. It was soon demolished due to severe weather-related damage. Therefore, a 25 m high tower was built in 1907, which was inaugurated on May 31, 1908 with the name given. After weather damage had already become evident in 1921, the masonry began to crack in 1930. After its closure in 1954, the tower was restored in 1955 and it was given a reinforced concrete shell. In 1963 it was raised to a tower height of 34.6 m because the beech population had grown so high that there was no longer any view. In addition, the tower base was provided with a reinforced concrete jacket in 1969.
