Igor Osypov

Igor Osypov ( Ukrainian Ігор Осипов Ihor Ossypow ; * 1988 in Ukraine ) is a Ukrainian jazz and fusion musician ( guitar , composition ).

Act

Osypov started playing the guitar at the age of ten; initially he was interested in rock music before he discovered jazz. He was active in both the Ukrainian and Russian jazz scenes, went on concert tours in these countries and took part in major festivals. In 2012 he moved to Germany, where he studied with Kurt Rosenwinkel at the Jazz Institute Berlin . Other teachers were John Hollenbeck , Greg Cohen , Kalle Kalima , Gerard Presencer , Geoffroy de Masure , Tino Derado , Guilherme Castro and Javier Reyes.

He performs across Europe with his own band, with which he has already released two albums, and as a sideman in the groups of Logan Richardson , Greg Cohen, Nasheet Waits and Olga Amelchenko . He can also be heard on the Berlin Babylon soundtrack with the Mokka Effti Orchestra .

Prizes and awards

In 2015 Osypov received the JIB Jazz Prize of the Karl Hofer Society with the Bondarev-Osypov Quintet.
