Ilave is the capital of the El Collao Province in the Puno region in southern Peru . Ilave is located in the district of the same name . The city had 20,968 inhabitants at the 2017 census. Ten years earlier the population was 21,127.

Geographical location

The city of Ilave is located in the Altiplano of Peru, southwest of Lake Titicaca . It is located on the left bank of the Río Ilave at an altitude of 3862  m . Lake Titicaca is at a distance of 14 km. The regional capital Puno is just 50 km northwest of Ilave.
