Career

Ilya Gorokhov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Torpedo Yaroslavl , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League from 1992 to 1995 . In the 1994/95 season he also made his debut for the professional team of Torpedo in the International Hockey League . In his only season assignment, he remained pointless and punished. Then he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1995 in the eighth round as a total of 195th player by the New York Rangers , for which he never played. Instead, the defender worked out a regular place at Torpedo Yaroslavl in the IHL in the 1995/96 season . At the beginning of the 1996/97 season he ran on one time in the International Hockey League for the Las Vegas Thunder . He then won the Russian championship title with his home club Torpedo Yaroslavl in the first-ever Super League .

The 1997/98 season began Gorochow again with Torpedo Yaroslavl in the super league, but played in the further course of the season for his league rivals Salawat Julajew Ufa and ZSK WWS Samara . The former junior international also spent the 1998/99 season with Torpedo Yaroslavl in the Super League before playing for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the following year and a half . With his new team, he rose straight away from the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, to the Superliga. In the summer of 2000, the right-shooter returned to Yaroslavl, which in the meantime had changed its name to Locomotive Yaroslavl. With his team he was again Russian champion in the 2001/02 season . Following this success, he signed a contract with HK Lada Tolyatti . However, he left the HK Lada after only 29 games and became Russian champions for the third time in his career with his home club Lokomotive Yaroslavl at the end of the 2002/03 season .

From 2003 to 2009 Gorochow was a regular at Lokomotive Yaroslavl. After the team had been included in the newly founded Continental Hockey League for the 2008/09 season , he immediately reached the playoff final for the Gagarin Cup with Lokomotive in the KHL premier season . In this he and his team lost to Ak Bars Kazan in the best-of-seven series with 3: 4 wins. In the following season he ran for his ex-club Salawat Julajew Ufa. In the 2010/11 season Gorochow stood for Atlant Mytishchi in the KHL on the ice and reached the playoff final with Atlant by losing his team to Salawat Yulayev Ufa . After this success, Gorochow was signed in May 2011 by OHK Dynamo , with whom he won the Gagarin Cup twice in the following two years . He then returned to his hometown club in Yaroslavl.

Other stations in his career were HK Sochi at the beginning of the 2016/17 season and Amur Khabarovsk from December 2016 before ending his career in February 2017.
