Ilva Ligabue
Ilva Ligabue (born May 23, 1932 in Reggio nell'Emilia , † August 19, 1998 in Palermo ) was an Italian opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
The best-known role of the Milan-trained singer was the role of Alice Ford in the opera Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi . In this role, after initial successes in Italy, she also appeared at the Covent Garden Opera in London , at the Vienna State Opera , at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires , at the festivals in Glyndebourne , Salzburg , Aix-en-Provence and in Tel Aviv , Dallas and Chicago . She also took on the role in two complete recordings, once under Georg Solti for Decca Records and once under Leonard Bernstein for CBS . She also sang a. a. the Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart .
