Imre Géra

Imre Géra (born March 6, 1947 in Abaújszántó ) is a former Hungarian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

In 1964, at the age of 17, he became a member of the Hungarian national team. Géra were participants in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City . When Pierfranco Vianelli won , he finished 21st in the road race . Also in 1972 he was at the start of the Olympic road race and was classified there as 67th.

He drove the International Peace Tour seven times. His best result in the overall individual ranking was 7th in 1970 . In 1973 he won a stage of the Algeria tour .

He started four times in the Hungarian four-man team at the UCI Road World Championships in the team time trial . The 7th place in 1971 with Tibor Debreczeni , József Petermann and   András Takács was his best result.

Géra was Hungarian champion several times, in 1967 in individual races and twice in team time trials .

Géra won the Mescek Cup twice , the trip through the Bükk Mountains four times, and the Košice – Tatras race in Czechoslovakia twice . He started for the Miskolc VSC club . In 1978 he ended his career.

Professional

Géra worked as a bricklayer and later as an industrial climber renovating tall buildings. He obtained several technical diplomas and worked temporarily as a locksmith in Germany .
