Inácio Freitas Moreira (born February 1, 1962 in Quelicai , Baucau , Portuguese Timor ) is a politician from East Timor and a member of the FRETILIN party . From 2006 to 2018 he was in the East Timorese cabinet several times .

Life

After the unrest in East Timor in 2006 and the resignation of Prime Minister Marí Alkatiri , Moreira became Minister of Transport and Communication on July 14, 2006 under the new Prime Minister José Ramos-Horta , replacing Ovídio Amaral , who had already protested against Alkatiri on June 25 resigned from office. Previously, Moreira was Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the National University of East Timor (UNTL). Here Vítor da Conceição Soares was his successor.

When Ramos-Horta resigned as Prime Minister on May 18, 2007 to take over the office of President , Moreira remained Minister of Transport under his successor, Estanislau da Silva . After the 2007 elections and the swearing-in of Xanana Gusmão as the new Prime Minister, the Ministry of Infrastructure was created, led by Pedro Lay . Moreira moved into the national parliament of East Timor as a member of FRETILIN in the 2007 elections . Here he became a member of the Commission for Infrastructure and Social Facilities (Commission G). In the parliamentary elections in 2012 , Moreira managed to move back in. He became a member of the Commission for Infrastructure, Transport and Communication (Commission E).

In 2015, Moreira was sworn in as the second Vice Minister for Public Works, Transport and Telecommunications as part of the formation of the government on February 16. He therefore had to give up his seat in parliament. In the 2017 elections , Moreira failed in 34th place on the FRETILIN electoral list. When the VII government took office on September 15, 2017, Pereira's tenure in the cabinet initially ended, but in the second round of appointments on September 29, he was appointed Vice Minister for Development for Transport and Communications and was sworn in on October 3. His term of office as Vice Minister ended when the Eighth Government of East Timor took office on June 22, 2018.

Moreira is a member of the Central Committee and the Financial Supervisor of FRETILIN. He is also the club president of the AS Ponta Leste sports club .

From 2012 to 2013, Moreia, who holds a master’s degree, took part in a doctoral program at the Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa'e (UNTL).
