List of grape varieties

Incrocio Terzi N. 1 (also Incrocio Terzi No 1 ) is a red wine variety from Italy . It is a new breed of the Bergamasque oenologist and winemaker Riccardo Terzi († 1963) from a cross between the varieties Barbera and Cabernet Franc. The grape variety is grown in the Lombardy region , especially in the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia , where its cultivation is recommended for the production of quality wines, and in the province of Sondrio , where it is approved for cultivation. The grape variety is legally recognized for the DOC wines Capriano del Colle Rosso (max. 15%) and Cellatica (min. 10%), as well as for the IGT wine Bergamasca. It is usually expanded in a blend with the grape varieties Barbera, Merlot , Schiava (either Trollinger or Vernatsch ) and Marzemino . In the mid-1990s, the area under vines was 203 hectares .

Single-variety red wines have an intense ruby red color and are rich in alcohol. The tannin content is only moderately high but the wines are full- bodied .

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The medium-sized leaves are almost pentagonal, five-lobed and moderately deeply indented.
  • The cone-shaped grape is medium-sized and moderately dense. The round berries are medium-sized and blue-black in color. The juice of the berry is not colored and has a neutral taste.

The vigorous variety produces consistently good yields, so that targeted vine training should reduce the yield in order to achieve good wine quality. Incrocio Terzi N. 1 has good resistance to gray mold rot , so that the berries can be kept on the cane for a long time and can therefore ripen well. In their area of distribution, the harvest usually takes place at the beginning of October. However, the variety is sensitive to the fungal diseases of powdery mildew and downy mildew of the grapevine .
