Indium (I, III) iodide is an inorganic chemical compound of indium from the group of iodides .
Extraction and presentation
Indium (I, III) iodide can be obtained by reacting indium with mercury (II) iodide .
It can also be obtained by reacting indium and indium (III) iodide .
properties
Indium (I, III) iodide is a red-brown, crystalline, diamagnetic and hygroscopic solid that disproportionates in water to indium and indium (III) iodide . Its melt is colored black. The compound is meaningfully described as In [InI 4 ] or InI · InI 3 . It has an orthorhombic crystal structure in the space group Pnna (space group no. 52) with the lattice parameters a = 842.7 pm, b = 1096.5 pm, c = 1117.3 pm and eight formula units per unit cell .
