Indochinese Peninsula
The Indochinese Peninsula is a peninsula in sub-areas of rear India in Southeast Asia , which includes the mainland areas that protrude into the South China Sea . The name is derived from the name of the former French colony " French Indochina ", which covered large parts of the peninsula.

The Indochinese Peninsula lies between the Gulf of Thailand and the Gulf of Tonkin , both gulfs of the South China Sea, which in turn is a marginal sea of the Pacific . It includes the entire Cambodia , the southern part of Laos , the eastern part of Thailand , which lies southeast of the imaginary straight line connecting Bangkok to the northwest end of the Gulf of Tonkin , as well as the central and southern parts of Vietnam .
In the north or northwest, the Indochinese peninsula merges into the actual Asian continent . In the (south) west it borders near Bangkok on the Malay Peninsula , the western boundary of the Gulf of Thailand. In the northeast, across the Gulf of Tonkin, lies the Chinese island of Hainan, and beyond the actual South China Sea , in the southeast, lies the island of Borneo , which belongs to the Malay Archipelago .
