Indrias Rehmat

Indrias Rehmat (born July 1, 1966 in Okara , Pakistan ) is a Pakistani clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Faisalabad .

Life

Indrias Rehmat entered the boys' seminary in Faisalabad and then studied at the seminary in Karachi . On September 25, 1992, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Faisalabad .

After ordination, he worked in parish ministry until 1995 and then studied moral theology at the Pontifical Alfonsian Academy in Rome until 2000 , where he was awarded a Dr. theol. received his doctorate . Since 2000 he has taught moral theology at the National Catholic Institute of Theology in Karachi, of which he became dean in 2014. From 2000 to 2006 he was also active in the formation of priests at the seminary in Karachi. After two years of missionary work in the Hyderabad diocese in Pakistan , he was pastor in Karachi from 2009 to 2014.

On June 29, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Faisalabad. The Archbishop of Karachi , Cardinal Joseph Coutts , donated him episcopal ordination on September 13 of the same year in Faisalabad . Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Pakistan, Archbishop Christophe Zakhia El-Kassis , and Rehmat's predecessor in office, Joseph Arshad .
