The Roman Catholic Diocese of Faisalabad ( lat. : Dioecesis Faisalabadensis ) is in Pakistan situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Faisalabad .

history

The diocese of Faisalabad was founded by Pope John XXIII. Founded on April 13, 1960 as the Lyallpur diocese from areas of the Multan diocese and initially subordinated to the Metropolitan Diocese of Karachi . The first bishop was Francesco Benedetto Cialeo OP . In 1977 the name was changed to the current diocese of Faisalabad, as a result of the city being renamed in honor of the murdered King Faisal of Saudi Arabia .

The diocese of Faisalabad is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lahore .
