The Roman Catholic Diocese of Multan ( lat. : Dioecesis Multanensis ) is in Pakistan situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Multan in the province of Punjab .

history

The diocese of Multan was founded by Pope Pius XI. Founded in 1936 as an Apostolic Prefecture from the Metropolitan Diocese of Lahore . The first prefect was the Italian Dominican Francesco Benedetto Cialeo OP. In 1939 the prefecture was under the leadership of Bishop Cialeo by Pope Pius XII. raised to today's diocese of Multan. In 1960 the Lyallpur Diocese, today's Faisalabad Diocese , was founded out of the territory of the Multan Diocese.

The Diocese of Multan is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lahore .
