Benny Mario Travas

Benny Mario Travas (born November 21, 1966 in Karachi , Pakistan ) is a Pakistani clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Multan .

Life

Benny Mario Travas was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Karachi on December 7, 1990 .

After seven years in pastoral care, he obtained a degree in canon law from the Pontifical Urban University in 1997 . After his return home he became vicar general of the Archdiocese of Karachi and at the same time rector of the boys' seminary and lecturer at the National Catholic Institute of Theology in Karachi. He was also a diocesan judge and a member of the college of consultors and the priestly council of the archdiocese. During the nine-month vacancy, he was Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Multan until his appointment as Bishop .

On May 29, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Multan. He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in Pakistan, Archbishop Ghaleb Moussa Abdalla Bader , on August 15 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Karachi , Joseph Coutts , and the Archbishop of Lahore , Sebastian Francis Shah, OFM .

On October 28, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Order of the Sacraments .
