The Archdiocese of Karachi ( lat. : Archidioecesis Karachiensis ) is in Pakistan situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Karachi .

history

The diocese of Karachi was founded by Pope Pius XII. Founded in 1948 and subordinated to the Metropolitan Diocese of Bombay . The first bishop was James Cornelius van Miltenburg, OFM . Two years later, the elevation to an archdiocese took place . In 1958 the suffragan diocese of Hyderabad was established from the Archdiocese of Karachi . In 2001 the Apostolic Prefecture of Quetta was created from both dioceses .
