Simeon Anthony Pereira

Simeon Anthony Pereira (born October 19, 1927 in Sukkur , Sindh , Pakistan ; † August 21, 2006 ) was a Pakistani clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Karachi .

Life

Simeon Anthony Pereira received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Karachi on August 24, 1951 .

On July 3, 1971, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Badiae and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Rawalpindi . The Bishop of Rawalpindi, Nicholas Hettinga MHM , donated him episcopal ordination on October 7th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Multan , Ernest Bertrand Boland OP , and the Bishop of Lyallpur , Francesco Benedetto Cialeo OP, as well as the Bishop of Lahore , Felicissimus Alphonse Raeymaeckers OFMCap , and the Bishop of Hyderabad in Pakistan , Bonaventure Patrick Paul OFM .

Paul VI appointed him on December 17, 1973. to the Bishop of Rawalpindi. Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 22, 1993 as coadjutor archbishop of Karachi. On February 11, 1994, Simeon Anthony Pereira succeeded the late Cardinal Joseph Cordeiro as Archbishop of Karachi.

On November 20, 2002, John Paul II accepted Simeon Anthony Pereira's resignation due to reasons of age.
