history

Sacred Heart Cathedral in Lahore

The diocese of Lahore was on September 1, 1886 by Pope Leo XIII. Established from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate of Punjab . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Karachi as a suffragan . The diocese of Lahore gave up several times in its history parts of its territory to establish new Apostolic Prefectures . On April 23, 1994, the diocese of Lahore was raised to an archdiocese.
