Joseph Arshad

Joseph Arshad (born August 25, 1964 in Lahore , Pakistan ) is a Pakistani clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi .

Life

Joseph Arshad attended St. Mary's Minor Seminary in Lahore and studied Catholic theology at Christ the King Seminary in Karachi . He received on 1 November 1991, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

From 1991 to 1995 Arshad was parish vicar in the parish of St. Joseph and pastor at St. Peter's School in Kamoke - Gujranwala . During this time he also studied journalism at the University of the Punjab in Lahore. From 1995 to 1999 Joseph Arshad studied canon law at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome and attended the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy . In 1999 he joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See and subsequently worked in the following countries: Malta (1999–2002), Sri Lanka (2002–2004), Bangladesh (2004–2007) and Madagascar (2007–2010). Since 2010 Joseph Arshad has been a Nunciature Councilor at the Apostolic Nunciature in Bosnia and Herzegovina .

On July 3, 2013, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Faisalabad . He received his episcopal ordination on November 1st of the same year by the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Fernando Filoni . Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Pakistan, Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra , and his predecessor in Faisalabad, the Archbishop of Karachi , Joseph Coutts .

For the duration of the Sedis vacancy, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Administrator of Islamabad-Rawalpindi on November 12, 2016 . On December 8, 2017, the Pope appointed him Bishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi and Archbishop ad personam . The inauguration took place on February 10 of the following year.
