John Joseph (bishop)

John Joseph (born November 15, 1932 in Khuspur , Pakistan , † May 6, 1998 in Faisalabad , Punjab ) was Bishop of Faisalabad .

Life

John Joseph studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at Christ the King Seminary in Karachi . He received the sacrament of ordination for the Lyallpur on January 18, 1960 . After being in Catholic theology doctorate was, he taught at Christ the King Seminary in Karachi.

On 24 October 1980. appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Segisama and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Faisalabad. The Archbishop of Karachi , Joseph Cardinal Cordeiro , donated him episcopal ordination on January 9, 1981 in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Faisalabad ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop Emeritus of Lyallpur, Francesco Benedetto Cialeo OP , and the Bishop of Faisalabad, Paolo Vieri Andreotti OP.

On January 9, 1984, John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Faisalabad.

On May 6, 1998, Bishop John Joseph committed suicide in a court in Sahiwal in protest against the blasphemy laws passed between 1980 and 1986 under General Mohammed Zia-ul-Haq .
