Ines Thomas Almeida

Ines Thomas Almeida (born June 11, 1976 in Santo Domingo , Dominican Republic ) is a lyrical singer ( mezzo-soprano ) who lives in Berlin and Lisbon and publisher of the online magazine Berlinda.org.

Life

Ines Thomas Almeida was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up bilingually in Portugal . She first studied music in Lisbon and graduated with a major in piano . She then studied singing at the University in Évora . During her vocal studies, she was named the best female student at the university for two consecutive years.

She then came to Germany and deepened her musical education by studying singing at the University of Music and Theater with Klaus Häger in Rostock , where she graduated in 2007. In her diploma examination in 2007 she sang a. a. Arias by Orfeo from the opera Orpheus and Eurydice by Christoph Willibald Gluck . During her studies she performed as a soloist in university productions and sang a. a. in October 2006 the role of Orsola in Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's opera Il Campiello . In February 2009 she presented the concert “Poema en Forma de Canciones” with songs by Ibero-American composers at the Palacio Foz in Lisbon as part of a cultural week organized by the Embassy of the Dominican Republic. She performs regularly in Portugal, the Dominican Republic and Germany. She not only interprets the classic art songs of the Iberian region, but also performs with various Fado programs .

In 2011 she founded the online magazine Berlinda.org , which deals with the cultural exchange between Berlin and the Portuguese- speaking world. In this context, she directed the Berlinda Festival in 2012, which presented the culture of Portuguese-speaking countries in the fields of literature, film, music and art for one month in Berlin.
