Technical College

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The technical grammar school (also: vocational grammar school technical branch or TG) is a special form of a grammar school that belongs to the vocational grammar schools . With the Abitur examination, the students acquire the general university entrance qualification , provided that they can demonstrate sufficient knowledge of two foreign languages .

When entering this type of school, students choose a profile for the entire three or six years. The profile determines a major and thus a subject for the Abitur examination. In Hamburg, however, the students do not have to vote until they start middle school (12th grade). The lower level (11th grade) is therefore the same for everyone.

A profile is again divided into curriculum units , which are often taught by different teachers (subject teacher principle).

The technical grammar school is technically oriented compared to the general grammar school. This has an impact above all in the natural science subjects of physics , chemistry , technology and mathematics , which are dealt with more intensively than in the general grammar school.
