Inge Simonsen
Inge Simonsen (born July 1, 1953 ) is a former Norwegian long-distance runner .
In 1979 he came in 57th place at the World Cross Country Championships and was third at the City - Pier - City Loop , and the following year he became national cross country champion in the 10 km and 20 km and sixth in the New York City Loop . Marathon .
At the premiere of the London Marathon in 1981 he fought a thrilling duel with Dick Beardsley in the second half . Neither of the two runners was able to pull away until the end, and finally they spontaneously crossed the finish line hand in hand and were declared winners of the race together.
