Ingeborg Cornelius (born January 4, 1930 in Vienna ) is an Austrian actress .

life and career

She received her acting training from 1945 to 1948 at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. She made her debut in 1948 as Marie Clementine in the play Hofdamenkomödie by Bruno Schuppler at the Landestheater Linz . Her roles in Linz included Juliet in Romeo and Juliet , Gretchen in Faust I , Hero in Grillparzer's Des Meeres und der Liebe Wellen , Pützchen in Des Teufels General , Sheila in Ein Inspektor geht and Inken Peters in Vor Sunset .

From 1950 to 1951 she played at the Schauspielhaus Zürich , where she embodied Geneviève in Siegfried von Jean Giraudoux and Luise in Kabale und Liebe . From 1951 to 1952 she worked at the United Theater in Graz . Guest performances have taken her to Munich and Stuttgart . Other roles were Isabella in Measure for Measure and Jessica in Sartre's Dirty Hands .

The German producer Peter Ostermayr discovered Cornelius for the film in 1950 and gave her leading roles in his adaptations of the novels by Ludwig Ganghofer over the next few years . Among other things, she took over the title character in The beautiful Tölzerin . She has been married to the Austrian actor Erich Scholz since 1952.
