Ingeborg Podßuweit

Ingeborg Podßuweit (born May 5, 1937 ) is a former German politician ( SED ). She was mayor of the Berlin district of Weißensee .

Life

Ingeborg Podßuweit learned the profession of kindergarten teacher and received training as a teacher . She became a member of the FDJ and the SED. She was a pioneer leader at the 10th secondary school in Berlin-Friedrichshagen and worked for many years in FDJ district leaderships and in the magistrate of Berlin , a. a. as secretary of the district vacation committee. She qualified as a state scientist.

On April 8, 1976, she was elected first deputy mayor of the district mayor of Berlin-Friedrichshain . After five and a half years in this function, she was elected as the successor of Horst Beran as 1st deputy mayor of Berlin-Weißensee on October 8, 1981, and on January 6, 1983, she was elected mayor of the district.

On December 12, 1988, she was appointed to the GDR's electoral commission for the local elections on May 7, 1989. After an investigation was initiated against her and Arno Wendel, the former first secretary of the SED district leadership in Weißensee, on suspicion of election fraud or aiding and abetting, she resigned as mayor on January 24, 1990. It was not until September 1993 that the election fraud trial against former Lord Mayor Erhard Krack and twelve other former SED politicians and city district mayors - including Ingeborg Podßuweit - took place, which ended with suspended sentences.

Ingeborg Podßuweit is married and has two children. She lives in Zeesen .
