Johanna Kuzia

Johanna Kuzia (born January 6, 1916 in Berlin , † after 1988) was a German politician ( SED ). She was Deputy Mayor of East Berlin and Mayor of the Berlin district of Weißensee .

Life

Kuzia was born as the daughter of a construction worker and a seamstress in Berlin-Lichtenberg . From 1926 she was a member of the children's team in the workers' sports movement . After school she learned the trade of saleswoman and worked as a warehouse clerk and saleswoman in the textile trade.

After the Second World War , she started working as an auxiliary agent in the Lichtenberg employment office in 1945 . She became a member of the KPD and the FDGB . In 1946 she joined the SED. She was elected to the works council in 1947 and took over the women's work in the Lichtenberg FDGB district executive. After attending union and party schools, she switched to state control in 1949 . In February 1953 she was appointed to the “ People's Representation of Greater Berlin ” and appointed deputy mayor. She was responsible for the magistrate's health policy area. She performed this function when she was replaced by Herbert Fechner in October 1957. In the elections on October 17, 1954, she was elected to the Berlin city council via the unified list. After attending the “Karl Marx” party college , she was initially deputy mayor of the district from 1958 and, from April 14, 1959, chairwoman of the council for the Berlin-Weißensee district.

In addition to Erich Honecker and Erich Mielke , she was a supporting member of the BFC Dynamo . In 1967 she completed a distance learning course at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . After more than ten years, she resigned as mayor of the city on May 20, 1969 for health reasons. Johanna Kuzia most recently worked as secretary of the SED housing party organization in Lichtenberg's residential district 49.

In 1988, the Berlin City Archives began to publish memory reports from former members of parliament, city councilors, city district mayors and other personalities from 1949 onwards. Johanna Kuzia also had a say in a tape record.
