Ingelore Menzhausen

Ingelore Menzhausen , née Handt (born October 4, 1923 in Danzig ; † January 2, 2006 in Dresden ), was a German art historian .

Life

From 1942 to 1944 she studied journalism, art history and German at the University of Leipzig , and from 1946 to 1950 German, history, philosophy and art history at the University of Greifswald . In 1982 she received her doctorate from the University of Halle .

In 1951 she began as an intern at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Dresden and the associated porcelain collection . In 1953 she became a research assistant at the museum, and in 1958 she was appointed curator. Together with the director Hilde Rakebrand , she reorganized the porcelain collection in the Zwinger . In 1964 she was initially acting director, from 1968 until her retirement in 1985 she was director of the porcelain collection.

She was married to Joachim Menzhausen (1930–2019), director of the Green Vault in Dresden.
