Ingemar Melchersson

Ingemar Curt Melchersson (born January 24, 1946 in Stockholm ) is an Austrian organist and church musician .

Life

After graduating from the Pedagogical Academy in Eksjö, Melchersson was trained as an organist by Alois Forer at the Vienna Music Academy and at the Mozarteum Salzburg , initially living in Vienna in the 10th district, where he served on the organ in the Salvatorian Church with the Holy Apostles . In 1975 he obtained a diploma in organ concert at the Mozarteum "with distinction" and an exit award from the federal government; he then moved to Schlägl , where he was the organist of the Premonstratensian monastery Schlägl from 1975 until his retirement in 2009 . Musically, his contacts with Josef Mertin , Gustav Leonhardt and Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini were instrumental . Although he is committed to historical performance practice, he is also considered an excellent interpreter of contemporary music. He was responsible for supervising the international organ competitions and leading the international Schlägler music seminars, and he made a significant contribution to the establishment of the Schlägl State Music School, where he worked as a teacher for a long time.
