Ingo Schulz (born April 27, 1962 in Husum ) is a German church musician , choir director , composer , organist , pianist and conductor . He is employed as a church musician at the Emmaus-Ölberg congregation in Berlin-Kreuzberg .

Life

He studied church music at what is now the College for Church Music of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia in Herford and at the Berlin University of the Arts . After completing his studies, he completed his training with further studies in choral conducting with Martin Behrmann and Uwe Gronostay as well as studying musicology with Carl Dahlhaus .

Since 1985 he has been organist in the Ölbergkirche in today's Berlin district of Kreuzberg . In 1989 he founded the Ölberg Choir. His musical preferences lie in the music of the 20th and 21st centuries; with the Ölberg Choir he has not only performed modern works, but also major oratorios from the Baroque to the Late Romantic period. The choir is also dedicated to a cappella literature from all eras. The image of the choir in public is determined in particular by world premieres , combinations of old and new music and the use of space and light.

In addition to his work as a choir director and church musician, he has given concerts several times with works by Leon Schidlowsky , including a radio recording in Saarbrücken in 1996 .

Since 1994 Schulz has had a teaching position for the organ at the church music seminar of the Ev. Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia at the Berlin University of the Arts .

For several years he has also been composing and arranging and making new editions of free older music available online.
