The inner-city nature trail Lößnitz explains the history of the Erzgebirge city of Lößnitz using information boards . Lößnitz is one of the oldest cities in the Ore Mountains .

The nature trail is a circular route in the city center of the former capital of the County of Hartenstein, about 4.5 km in length. The information boards have a white square with a diagonal green band running diagonally from top left to bottom right as a distinctive route symbol. A leaflet with a map of the path is given out in the town hall.

Attractions

  1. The educational trail begins at the town hall. Its current appearance goes back to renovations in the years 1867/68 and a comprehensive renovation until 1997. The renaissance portal dates from 1601 and shows the city's coat of arms at its apex and above it the Schoenburg and Rhine and Wildgraves coats of arms.
  2. The second stop is the former royal Saxon district court on the market square. The historic building is now used as a community center with a city library and for exhibitions.
  3. Along the Marktgasse you get to the “Commundstolln”, a mining facility that supplied the city with water until the end of the 19th century.
  4. Right next to it is the carving house of the oldest carving and mountain association in the Ore Mountains.
  5. The next stop is the "Lindenallee", a former natural monument . The avenue was the access road of the Schönburg rulers to the capital of their county .
  6. Back on Oberalberodaer Straße you get to the last atonement cross in Lößnitz as the next stage of the educational trail.
  7. The next information board is located at the former location of the “ Schneeberger Stadttores” on Schneeberger Strasse. The city gate, also known as the Upper Gate, was probably the largest of the city's three gates.
  8. A unique cast iron gate from the early 19th century adorns a historic building from 1754.
  9. In the so-called Bärenwinkel an information board reminds of the city's “bear privilege” from the 13th century.
  10. Carvings on historic front doors in Gerbergasse are evidence of the earlier craftsmanship.
  11. The " Auer Tor" or Niedere Tor was probably part of the city fortifications built in the middle of the 14th century.
  12. The well tunnel under the "Brunnenhaus" was first mentioned in 1382. From 1912 until the Sosa Dam was completed, water was pumped into the municipal drinking water system.

  17. An information board in Johannisstrasse reminds of the third city gate. The " Grünhainer Tor" was also known as the hospital or Cistercian gate.
  18. The city ​​church of St. John , the tallest building in the city, is the last stop on the path. One of the last functional bronze carillon hangs in the church tower. A bronze relief on the church commemorates Gotthelf Friedrich Oesfeld , a historian from the Ore Mountains.
