Tampere International Short Film Festival
The Tampere International Short Film Festival ( Finnish : Tampereen elokuvajuhlat ) takes place annually in March in the Finnish city of Tampere .
Tampere is one of the few international short film festivals that is accredited by the international film producers association FIAPF and, along with the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival and the Festival du Court-Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand, is one of the most important European short film festivals.
The first Short Film Festival took place in Tampere in 1969, and the festival has existed in its current form since 1970. This makes Tampere the oldest short film festival in Scandinavia .
Almost 500 short films are shown annually during the five-day festival. In addition to an international competition, there is also a competition for Finnish short films. The Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki is one of the discoveries at the festival . Tampere is also known for its diverse supporting program from seminars and panel discussions to concerts.
