Ippolit W. Romanov was a Russian manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The electrical engineer Ippolit Wladimirowitsch Romanow founded the company in Saint Petersburg in 1899 and began developing automobiles. Production started in 1900. The brand name was Romanow . Production ended in 1901.
vehicles
The vehicles were electric cars . One electric motor each drove a front wheel. The rear wheels were steered. There were two body shapes for use as a taxi : an open and a closed, manufactured by Frese & Co. The driver was placed behind the passengers in both cases. The maximum speed was given as 38 km / h.
In February 1901 the company presented an omnibus . It had 8 seats and 17 standing places inside as well as 2 to 3 standing places on the rear platform. The wheelbase was 265 cm, the vehicle length 350 cm, the vehicle width 200 cm and the vehicle height 270 cm. The vehicle weighed 1600 kg. Each of the engines developed 6 hp . The maximum speed was specified with 11 to 19 km / h and the range with 60 km.
Monorail
Ippolit Romanov received permission from the imperial family to build an elevated monorail in the gardens of Gatchina and received support from the Imperial Russian Technical Society. The monorail, built in the Victorian style, was opened to the public in June 1900.
