Marussia Motors Company was a Russian automaker from Moscow .

history

The company was founded in 2007 by TV presenter and former motor sportsman Nikolai Fomenko , Andrei Tscheglakov and Yefim Ostrowski. Marussia Motors was the first premium-class sports car manufacturer in Russia . The company's aim was to compete with the world's best super sports car manufacturers. In April 2014, all employees were laid off and the company filed for bankruptcy.

Marussia B1

On December 16, 2008, Nikolai Fomenko presented the company's first prototype, the B1, in Moscow . The second model B2 was shown at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main in September 2009. 3.5-liter V6 engines with 309 kW from Cosworth were used in the vehicles. Motors with higher power and electric cars were planned . On March 12, 2010, the prototype of the SUV F2 was shown at the Svyaz-Expocomm 2010 .

It was planned to produce 3000 cars a year. The models, the optical details of which could be adapted to customer requirements, were offered at prices from around 100,000 euros.

In 2010 the company acquired a significant stake in the Virgin Racing Formula 1 team . In the 2011 Formula 1 World Championship , the team started under the name Marussia Virgin Racing . For the 2012 season , Marussia took over the racing team completely and competed under its own name, the Marussia F1 Team . On October 27, 2014, the company announced that the Marussia F1 Team was bankrupt. Nevertheless, the racing team managed to secure a starting place for the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship . With a new owner, it started as the Manor Marussia F1 Team . The vehicles were again equipped with a Ferrari engine.
