history

The village is first mentioned in writing in a document dated July 2, 1333. At that time the place name was Ulinhusen . Via Ulnhusen and Ohlenhausen as well as Ahlenhausen , the name developed into today's Aulenhausen. In the 16th century, ore mining was carried out in Aulenhausen. The first school was built around 1700.

Territorial reform

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the former market town of Weilmünster in the Oberlahnkreis merged voluntarily on December 31, 1970 with the previously independent communities Aulenhausen, Dietenhausen, Ernsthausen, Laimbach, Langenbach, Laubuseschbach, Lützendorf, Möttau, Rohnstadt and Wolfenhausen to form the new large community of Weilmünster. Essershausen was added on December 31, 1971. For all 12 formerly independent municipalities, local districts with local advisory councils and local councilors were formed according to the Hessian municipal code.
