Essershausen is a district of the hamlet of Weilmünster in the Limburg-Weilburg district in Central Hesse .
Geographical location
The place is located in the eastern Hintertaunus in the Weiltal , 4.4 km northwest of the core village of Weilmünster. State road 3025 runs through the village .
history
The village is first mentioned in a document in 1233 as the seat of an imperial knight . At that time the village was called Eschershusen . The place name then changed via Eichschershusen , Eschershusen , Aschesshusen , Eschersshusen , Eschershausen and Essershaußen to today's Essershausen. He lived in a homestead in the middle of the valley. It was surrounded by a moat. The church was built in 1391 . In 1520 the village was raised to a parish . The parish includes Bermbach, Laimbach and Edelsberg. From the middle of the 19th century until after the Second World War , Eisenstein was mined near the village .
In 1939 the place had 188 inhabitants and belonged to the Oberlahnkreis .
Essershausen had a train station on the Weiltalbahn . The railway line was built in 1889 and dismantled in 1990 after passenger traffic had ceased in 1969.
Territorial reform
As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the former market town of Weilmünster in the Oberlahnkreis merged voluntarily on December 31, 1970 with the previously independent communities Aulenhausen, Dietenhausen, Ernsthausen, Laimbach, Langenbach, Laubuseschbach, Lützendorf, Möttau, Rohnstadt and Wolfenhausen to form the new large community of Weilmünster. Essershausen was added on December 31, 1971. For all 12 formerly independent municipalities, local districts with local advisory councils and local councilors were formed according to the Hessian municipal code.

At the local level there are the associations Evangelical Women’s Aid Essershausen, the German Association for Bird Protection - local group Essershausen, the volunteer fire brigade Essershausen e. V. founded in 1934, the hiking and barbecue club Essershausen, the Sheriff Club e. V., the Minitreff and the football club Essershausen e. V.
Infrastructure
Since 1934, the Essershausen volunteer fire brigade has provided fire protection and general help in this area.
There is the village community center on Brückenstraße, the sports field in Weilwiesen, a children's playground, and cycling and hiking trails.
