Irene Crusius

Irene Crusius (born January 21, 1932 in Tilsit / East Prussia ) is a German historian ( Medievalist ).

Life

Irene Crusius is the daughter of the high school teacher Hermann Crusius (1887–1970) and his wife Lotte, born in a Hanoverian pastor family. Weber (1895-1987).

Crusius studied history , Protestant theology and English in Freiburg , Basel and Göttingen . In 1962, she was at Hermann Heimpel in History PhD ( The Brethren of the Common Life in Germany: The legal development religious cooperative movement in the late Middle Ages ).

From January 1964, Crusius worked at the Max Planck Institute for History in Göttingen, initially as an assistant, later as a scientific consultant and chief editor of the Germania Sacra research project . Under the difficult conditions of the division of Germany, she was able to maintain cooperation with colleagues in the GDR.
