Irene Köhler (born June 23, 1918 in Weimar as Irene Günther ; † February 8, 1984 ) was a functionary of the SED in the GDR .

Life

The daughter of a locksmith was after visiting the elementary and a junior high school in 1935 clerk in a workshop of the company Carl Zeiss , and then in the Thuringian State Electricity Supply AG , called Thuringia work . She kept in touch with the Central Committee for Agriculture and worked regularly with the Central Committee Secretary Erich Mückenberger and especially Gerhard Grüneberg . It provided them with the latest DBD materials, informed them about internal processes and proposed topics for presentations and discussions with the DBD. In addition, she made reports to Hermann Matern , a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED.

During this time she completed a distance learning course at the German Academy for Political Science and Law and graduated in 1954 with a diploma in Political Science and Law . Between 1962 and her replacement by Waldemar Pilz in March 1969, she was the head of the working group or the department of Friendly Parties and Organizations of the Central Committee of the SED .

After she was secretary of the central board of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship (DSF) between March 1969 and May 1970 , she became a research assistant at the television of the GDR and stayed there until she retired .
