Iris Spranger

Iris Spranger (born September 19, 1961 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since 2011 , to which she was a member from 1999 to 2006. From 2006 to 2011 she was State Secretary for Finance.

biography

Iris Spranger studied law at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1986 to 1991 . From 1993 she worked as an accountant and one year later founded a company in the financial accounting sector. From 1994 to 2006 she was a freelance lecturer in tax law and commercial software at the Potsdam Chamber of Crafts . Spranger is married and has one son.

politics

Spranger joined the SPD in 1994. She has been a member of the state executive since 2002 and has been deputy chairwoman of the Berlin SPD since 2004 . From 1999 to 2006 she was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives and also deputy chairwoman of her parliamentary group. From 2006 to 2011 Spranger was State Secretary for Finance in the Berlin Senate Administration . When she took over the office of State Secretary, she left parliament. In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives in September 2011 , she ran as a direct candidate in the constituency of Marzahn-Hellersdorf 5 , but could not prevail against Mario Czaja ( CDU ). However, through the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district list, she succeeded in re-entering the state parliament. Spranger is building policy spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group in the House of Representatives. When she was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives in 2016 , she was re-elected to the Berlin House of Representatives via the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district list.

She was nominated by her parliamentary group for the Federal Assembly on March 18, 2012 to elect the new Federal President.

Since April 2018 she has been the district chairman of the SPD in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district .

Spranger is the deputy state chairwoman of the Berlin Workers' Welfare Association (AWO) and a member of the Presidium of the Federal Association of AWO. Furthermore, she is a board member of the Federal Association of Free Welfare Care (BAGFW) and chairwoman of the Victor Klemperer College .
