The Irrland is a theme park in Kevelaer - Twisteden in North Rhine-Westphalia . The park was created in 1999 from a farm with a maize maze and over the years has grown into a park with an area of around 300,000 m². With around 1 million visitors a year, Irrland is one of the most popular leisure attractions in the Lower Rhine region . In 2012, the world's first accessible airport was opened in Irrland .

history

The Irrland originated from 1999, when the couple John and Josephine "Josi" angle-Tebartz-van Elst as a sideline to his farm corn maze docked and this by a petting zoo added, pony rides and some games. Over the years the park has been continuously expanded. Because of its germ cell, the maize ("maze") made of maize , the facility was named Irrland , which the park continues to this day.

In 2010, the grounds and buildings of the neighboring Plantaria flower and bird park were taken over, almost doubling the area of Irrland .
