Isaac Wayne

Isaac Wayne (born 1772 in Paoli , Province of Pennsylvania , †  October 25, 1852 in Chester County , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1823 and 1825 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Isaac Wayne was the son of General Anthony Wayne (1745–1796), who was also a member of Congress as a representative of Georgia . He attended public schools in his home country and then studied at Dickinson College in Carlisle . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1795, he began to work in Chester County in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Federalist Party . Between 1799 and 1801 and again in 1806 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania ; in 1810 he was a member of the State Senate . During the British-American War he put together a cavalry unit, which he temporarily commanded himself. He then became a colonel in a Pennsylvania infantry regiment. In 1814 he ran unsuccessfully as a federalist for the office of governor . After the dissolution of his party, he became a supporter of the future President Andrew Jackson .

In the congressional election of 1822 Wayne was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded James S. Mitchell on March 4, 1823 . Until March 3, 1825, he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After serving in the US House of Representatives, Isaac Wayne worked in agriculture. He died in Chester County on October 25, 1852.
