Isaiah "Izzy" Jay Brown (born January 7, 1997 in Peterborough ) is an English football player . Brown, who can be used in various attacking positions, has been under contract with Chelsea since 2013 and is currently on loan to Luton Town .

Club career

Isaiah Brown was born in early 1997 in the English city of Peterborough, where he lived and went to school until he moved to London. At the age of 13 he moved to the youth department of West Bromwich Albion and fought his way through the various academy teams to the next higher age groups. At the age of 15, he usually played for the U-21 division of his club from the start and was used in more than half of his team's league games in the Professional Development League . Because of his performance, he was appointed on March 2, 2013 for the game against Chelsea for the first time by coach Steve Clarke in the professional squad of the Baggies . In the event of a deployment, he would have exceeded the record established by Matthew Briggs in 2007 as the youngest player in the Premier League by exactly eleven days. However, there was no such action, so a month later he was again on the bench in the 2-1 home defeat against Arsenal FC , before Clark, again a month later, in the game against Wigan Athletic for the first time in the Premier League started. In the 2: 3 home defeat he was substituted on for the Congolese team player Youssuf Mulumbu from the 86th minute on and received a yellow card in the 93rd minute for unsportsmanlike conduct . At the time, Brown was just 16 years and 117 days old, making him the second youngest player in the Premier League behind the aforementioned Matthew Briggs. That year he was also named WBA Academy Player of the Year .

Over time, ever larger clubs courted the young offensive talent, who can be used both in attack and in midfield, especially as the classic number 10 . In addition to the scouts of Arsenal FC, those of local rivals Chelsea also had an eye on the young player. After it was initially reported in the media that a move to Chelsea was rejected, one soon came about. Since an offer of £ 350,000 was considered too low and the first negotiations failed as a result, the offer was increased by Chelsea. The change was finally decided by a sports court. At the end of November, the Baggies finally demanded £ 1.2 million for Isaiah Brown, who would not be eligible to sign a professional contract at Chelsea until his birthday in January 2014. Shortly after his move to the Blues , Isaiah Brown showed his offensive quality when he scored four goals in the first three games for the U-21 team. He also managed a hat trick on December 16, 2013 in the 5-0 away win over the U-21s of the Bolton Wanderers . Furthermore, he is taking part in the UEFA Youth League 2013/14 with the U-19 team of the Chelsea Academy , whereby the team has so far (as of March 2, 2014) made it to the quarter-finals without any problems and there in mid-March FC Schalke 04 youth meets. Brown also often competes for the U-19 academy team in the league, but increasingly for the U-21 team, for which he has made eleven league appearances, seven goals and three assists to date (as of March 2, 2014) had brought.

In February 2015 Brown moved up to the professional squad, in which he received the shirt number 37. On matchday 37 he came in the 3-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion for the first time for Chelsea in the Premier League when he came on in the 79th minute for Loïc Rémy . At the end of the season Brown became English league cup winners and champions.

For the 2015/16 season , Brown moved to Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie for a year on loan . In the following season he was awarded again, first for the first half of the season to second division Rotherham United and in the second half of their league rivals Huddersfield Town .

National team career

From 2012 Isaiah Brown made his first appearance for the U-16 national team in his home country and completed a total of two international matches for England by February 2013. In his last U-16 international match, a narrow 4-3 defeat against his colleagues from Germany , he scored his only goal as a center forward for the team. Also from 2012 he was used in the U-17 national team of England and came to a total of nine international appearances for this until March 2014, in which he scored three times. In his last two internationals so far (as of March 2, 2014), an 8-0 win over Gibraltar and a 6-0 win over Ireland in October 2013, Brown was successful as a goalscorer in both games. After he was unable to participate in the U-17 Nordic Tournament in 2013 , he was instead at the FA International Tournament and played in qualifying for the 2014 U-17 European Championship .
