Archbishop Isidore Battikha

Isidore Battikha BA (born July 28, 1950 in Aleppo , Syria ) is emeritus Melkite Archbishop of Homs in Syria.

Life

Isidore Battikha was ordained a religious priest of the Aleppine Basilians (BA) on April 11, 1980 . On August 25, 1992 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Melkite Patriarchate of Antioch and at the same time appointed titular bishop of Pelusium dei Greco-Melkiti . The Patriarch of Antioch Archbishop Maximos V. Hakim donated him episcopal ordination on August 25, 1992 . Co - consecrators were Néophytos Edelby BA and François Abou Mokh BS .

On February 9, 2006, the Synod of Bishops of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church elected him to succeed Abraham Nehmé as Archbishop of Homs.

Archbishop Battikha was Grand Prior of the Patriarchal Order of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem and co-consecrator to the Archbishops Elias Chacour and Michel Abrass BA until his resignation .

On September 6, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. Battikha's resignation, according to the Codex Canonum Ecclesiarum Orientalium (CCEO) can. 210 § 1. The reasons for his resignation are still unknown, the bishopric of Homs has been occupied again by Archbishop Abdo Arbach since June 23, 2012 .
