Islwyn Ffowc Elis

Islwyn Ffowc Elis (born November 17, 1924 in Wrexham , ( Denbighshire ), † January 22, 2004 ) was a Welsh writer.

Life

He was born the son of a farmer. After attending Llangollen Grammar School, he studied at the University College of North Wales in Bangor and at several theological colleges. Until 1959 he served as a preacher in the Presbyterian Church of Wales . He then worked as a freelance writer. From 1963 he worked at Trinity College in Carmarthen as a lecturer in Welsh and drama. From 1968 to 1971 he was an editor and translator for the Welsh Books Council . From 1975 he taught Welsh at St. David's University College in Lampeter .

Islwyn Ffowc Elis has written novels, essays , short stories, television plays , radio plays , articles and musical libretti . He wrote in Welsh. He also worked as a translator and editor.
